M8 – Boggy Cut ICWW Project

Project Description:
Once completed, the project will reestablish the barrier island, adjacent marsh and oyster habitats utilizing BU from GIWW dredge maintenance and placement area material, while also protecting the area from erosion, sea level rise, storm surge, and vessel wakes; all the while improving the navigational safety along the adjacent stretch of the GIWW. The project will be a multi-feature approach to restore GIWW barrier island and adjacent habitat and include an 18,500 LF rock breakwater, 19,500 LF/14.5-acres of oyster reef, 250-acres marsh, and a 96-acre island reconstruction.
